WHAT IS THE BRIGHT MOUNTAIN FILM TOUR?

The Bright Mountain Film Tour (BMFT) is a celebration of mountain culture and those who embrace it. The best adventure films from around the world are showcased amongst the alpine communities of North East Victoria.

Bright has become the epicentre of mountain sports with visitors from around the world enjoying everything the town and surrounding area has to offer. The BMFT is not just a film festival, it’s a community celebration. The films are handpicked by a panel of local enthusiasts, all experts in their related fields of filmmaking, mountain sports and tourism.

The BMFT organising committee are looking to grow the event through the support of like-minded sponsors.

WHERE IS BRIGHT?

Located three and a half hours from Melbourne, in North East Victoria, Bright is a popular tourist centre due to its close proximity to the mountain and ski resorts of Mount Buffalo, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek, and other natural attractions such as the Alpine National Park and Mount Buffalo National Park.

The famous Murray to Mountains Rail Trail leads all the way through the Ovens Valley to Bright, making this a mecca for cyclists who are welcomed with open arms at a range of cycle-friendly businesses including cafes, places to stay and bike hire. On two legs is also a great way to explore this lovely place. Bright offers 17 excellent short and longer walking trails around the town. Download the Walks & Trails Guide or pick up a copy of the brochure from the Alpine Visitor Information Centre.

There is a lot to love about this place because apart from river swimming, bike riding, camping, wildlife spotting and horseriding, there’s fly fishing, golf, tennis, croquet, bowls, croquet, bowls and a stack of fun and funky festivals. Go to our events link to find out what’s on in Bright any time of the day or year. Talk to a local at the Information Centre to find out exactly where to stay, what to do and where to eat.
