It's been a couple of years since we had our Christmas at Bundalong canoeing and camping event. We had so much fun we have decided to do it again! This time Iris will have a walk on offer for those who don't wish to Canoe.
Arrive Friday afternoon if you like and stay until Sunday.
Even if you cant make it for the weekend please join us on Saturday night for dinner. Because really who wants to miss MVB's fabulous Kris Kringle.
BYO everything....food, chair, camping equipment and don't forget your Kris Kringle - Pre-loved - or $10 max !!!
This year members Gary and Shirley have once again very kindly offered their place at Bundalong for the MVB Xmas Party- their backyard abuts the Ovens River and should be a great place to camp and paddle from. With a walk thrown in for those interested.
If camping isn't your thing there are a number of accomodation options nearby.
Hope to see you there.
Please contact Jan Douglas 0428334193 if you have any questions or if you haven't canoed with us before.
Directions to the campsite - 6899 Murray Valley Highway, Esmond. If coming from Albury travel approx 26km past Rutherglen. After crossing the Ovens River, we are 500 metres on the left. You will see the bluish colour house.
View from the Murray Valley Highway - 500 metres on the left after the bridge
Well behaved and controlled dogs (and owners) are welcome!
Below is a photo of Gary and Shirley in the lagoon at Toscana where we can put in boats
Cost of canoe, pfd and paddle hire for the weekend to be confirmed for this year - and will be hired from Murray River Canoe Hire but you can also bring your own gear. If in doubt our preference is for you to hire as we know the Dave's boats are safe and stable in the Ovens and the Murray Rivers.
The 15km loop paddle out and back from 2016 campsite mapped below has been traditionally paddled on this weekend and may still be on offer depending on enthusiasm.
Also we thought to venture upstream on the Ovens this year to explore the myriad of channels - other options may be suggested.
GRADE 2
Canoeing in mild currents with or without snags.
GRADE 2
No bushwalking experience required. The track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps.
