High Country car camping and Grade 3 day walking series

We will meet at Mansfield and then drive to Eight mile flat to camp for two nights. we will walk to Ritchies Hut via the high track and then return via the low track with numerous river crossing subject to suitable level. Next day we drive to Bluff Hut to camp for one night after walking to the Bluff. We then need 4wd to drive to Lovick's Hut and camp there or at King Billy for 3 nights with day walks to Mt Howitt and Mt Clear. Day walks are 8-14km but all can be shortened by returning early as all are there and back walks.

 Note this is a grade 3 day walks event -

GRADE 3

Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Track may have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.

WHAT TO BRING

Day Walking

• Current Medical Information Form - LOGIN FIRST  and then it can be FOUND ON THE WEBSITE HERE 
• Water - up to 2 litres recommended for a full day walk
• Sunscreen
• Gloves and hat
• Sufficient food bearing in mind the distance and duration of the event 
• Suitable clothing and footwear - note denim pants are uncomfortable
• Wet weather waterproofs, jacket and pants
• Walking poles
• Gaiters
• Basic first aid kit including your specific medication eg asthma applicator
• Torch or headlamp for contingencies
