Event Report: We met late Sat afternoon at Samuel Bollard - Tony and Shauna having walked a new section of track completed by the Friends group that went from the old quarry site (now undergoing revegetation) and the Hume and Hovell track and return (about 4km)
It was quite windy that evening so we resisted the temptation to have a fire.

Others camped there had a fire and it looked quite dangerous at times. We were entertained by gum emperor moths attracted to the camp light.

Next morning we decided not to bother doing the car shuffle cos the return trip to drop off a car would be 1.5 hours - no one was happy to leave a car overnight on a saturday on the side of the Bowna road
So an out and back walk was planned and it turned out to be superb - for mine, this walk in spring is one of the best in the district.
South of the road the beautiful forest displayed its gems - the bulbine lilies were just as spectacular as when I first walked this track with Hans in 2011

Orchids were in abundance - this is the spotted sun orchids

The brittle gum forest was a delight to walk through - we enjoyed the prospect of seeing it again from other way on the return walk.

We had several delightful rests in the warm sunny conditions on the way back to Samuel Bollard camp - Im definitely not waiting another 7 years before I do this walk for the third time!
