Please be mindful that this event was originally scheduled for 10 November and has now been  replaced with Hume and Hovell part 3.

Due to COVID-19 health requirements, members must provide their own sanitisers, gloves, wipes, masks, etc.  If car pooling is required please contact the event co-ordinator.

Due to NSW/Vic border closures members and guests who reside in Victoria will need a border crossing permit.

Normal social distancing rules will apply. If 1.5m cannot be maintained then a mask needs to be worn; particularly if car pooling is used.


This track is an extension to the north of the Nail Can Hill Trail from Centaur Rd Lavington to the Jindera Gap on the Urana Road. It becomes Bakes Trail. It is a very good walk that offers fantastic views to the Victorian Alps. Starting from the Jindera Gap end we climb to the Hamilton Trig station along Bakes Trail. After a half way coffee break we then have an easy climb down and be fortunate enough to view the Albury tip.

Meet at the top of the Jindera Gap on Urana Rd. At the top take a left hand turn into Jelbart Rd and find a park off the road immediately on the left near where the track starts. 

Carpooling will be organised to Centaur Rd there.

No toilets are on this walk.

dogs OK ; but remember as this is a car pooling event please respect the cars of fellow walkers.

Bring hat, water and a morning tea snack. Coffee and cake at Red Brik Cafe, Lavington for those interested.

No bushwalking experience required. The track has a hardened or compacted surface that may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps.


Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Track may have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.

Day Walking

  • Water - up to 2 litres recommended for a full day walk
  • Sunscreen
  • Gloves and hat
  • Sufficient food bearing in mind the distance and duration of the event 
  • Suitable clothing and footwear - note denim pants are uncomfortable
  • Wet weather waterproofs, jacket and pants
  • Walking poles
  • Gaiters
  • Basic first aid kit including your specific medication eg asthma applicator
  • Torch or headlamp for contingencies
