• Typically these events involve our members participating in activities such as supporting fun runs, mountain running events, tree planting, flora and fauna surveys, fund raising etc
  • This category includes purely social or events like having dinner somewhere but can include a bbq after an evening walk or the post paddle bbq every thursday evening in daylight savings time
  • This has taken off since the club acquired a couple of sets of snowshoes for use by members in 2014 - there is a sense of urgency with snow activities as the seasons are unfortunately getting briefer
  • Many events in the snow are a combination of these two event types
  • Meetings of MVB which include one off topic based meetings and Annual General Meetings
  • These events involve lengthy road trips to places of great interest where car camping and day activities ensue
  • River paddling activities restricted to kayaks - these events are generally not on the Murray River (in summer anyway) where we take advantage of the myriad of back channels and creeks that appear in the height of summer river flows
  • There is an indoor rock climbing venue in Lavington which we have had some great events
  • A category for walks that are specifically designed to fit into a half day scenario
  • These events may take place in NZ and Tasmania, Northern Territory and elsewhere and involve private operators providing all the resources for wonderful and comfortable day pack walking and overnight accommodation and food where participants need to carry
    very light packs
  • GPS based treasure hunting activities that are great for improving navigation skills as well as being just plain fun
  • The most popular event in this category with MVB members is the annual Nail Can Hill Fun Run and the Parklands Albury Wodonga Fishy Run
  • This activity is particularly suited to daylight savings time in spring, summer and autumn evenings after work but we have had some great walks in winter with a campfire and bbq of course!
  • The newest event category is the sport of dragonboat paddling. This sponsored by the charity group called Bravehearts on the Murray Inc
  • Day Walks phew - what to say - this is our bread and butter - an enormously diverse and exciting category with something for everyone. To get an idea of its significance we offered nearly 300 events in this category in the first 4 years of the clubs exist
  • There are some great local and nearby railtrails and cycling tracks and we really should be running more of these events
