At Thredbo

Posted by Sharon Roberts

Drive to Thredbo on Thursday morning, 26th Sept (we could meet either in Corryong or Khancoban and car pool, once I know who's going, can set a definite time),  ski or snowshoe depending on conditions, to Seaman's Hut. Two options; either camp at Seaman’s on Thursday and Friday night and do day trips from there. Or do a circuit and camp somewhere else without a hut on the Friday night if conditions are favourable. Then return to Eagles nest on Saturday and catch chairlift down and return. Need to purchase a backcountry lift ticket on arrival at Thredbo for the Kosciusko Express chairlift – Under 60’s = $42, over 60’s = $31

Previous xc skiing / snow shoeing and pack carrying experience required. This hut is above the treeline and there are no toilets, so participants will need to carry a tube for waste. Google for more info or check out

About 6km from top of chairlift (Eagles Nest) to Seaman's Hut.

Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Track may have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.
