Trevor and Sharon are going on Friday and snow camp at Seamans Hut, Contact for Sharon042 914 5498, Trevor 040 011 9027

Barbara and Laurie offered to camp at there place on Friday night.floor space and byo sleeping bag. Barbara is making a pot of Soup, the rest of the meals need to be byo. Warning do not bring any cake.......

It's a 2 hour drive to Thredbo from Cudgewa, parking fee applies

We take the chair lift up and down. Weather permitting, we walk along the steel platform for about 2 km ,then its all of track to the Hut. Aparently there are 5 snow poles leading to the Hut 

Cootapatamba Hut] - a former SMA survey hut built in the 1950's. Located just south of Mt Kosciuszko. Very compact

If the forecast is bad we do not go .

GRADE 4

Bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited. 

 

Day Walking / XC Skiing / Snowshoeing in the Alps

    Activities in the Alps require additional safety equipment due to the fact that weather can change really quickly from benign to dangerous

  • Water - 2 litres recommended - exercise in the Alps uses prodigious amounts of fluid
  • Sunscreen
  • Gloves and hat
  • Sufficient food bearing in mind the distance and duration of the event (snacks for morning and afternoon tea and lunch)
  • Suitable clothing and footwear - note denim pants are uncomfortable
  • Wet weather waterproofs, jacket and pants
  • Thermal top and bottoms
  • Walking poles
  • Gaiters
  • Basic first aid kit including your specific medication eg asthma applicator
  • Torch or headlamp for contingencies
  • Whistle
  • Toilet paper, trowel and sanitiser
  • A set of dry clothing in a separate bag to be left in the car to change into if you get wet
